This Was Downtown Miami In The Early 90's - Before & After

A couple of weeks ago we showed how Downtown Miami looked in 1984. In the top left photo was Downtown Miami in the early 1990's and it looks slightly different than in 1984. When you compare to today in 2014 you see a noticeable difference. The tiny apartments on the Miami River were knocked down in 2006 along with the Sheraton Hotel Brickell to make way for Related Group's Icon Brickell. Below the apartment complex revealed a Tequesta burial site. That land is now the Miami Circle and used as a park.

Just North of the Miami River was the DuPont Plaza Hotel, which was built in 1957 and demolished in 2004 to make way for the Epic Hotel and Residences.

Since that time the Wells Fargo Tower was built North of the Epic Hotel. The Met 3 and One Miami were built in the empty lots by the Intercontinental Hotel.

Fishing boats would use the Miami River and now the wealthy use it to dock their luxury yachts.
