Site for the Planned Riverfront Condos
New York developer Chetrit Group has unveiled plans for four 60 story condo along the Miami River, which will also have retail, office space, a hotel, riverfront restaurant, small marina and a public river walk. The condo would have 1,449 units.
Located east of I-95 on 6.5 acres between SW 7th St, SW 3rd Ave and SW 2nd Ave, the new development would force the relocation of four businesses including Finnegan's on the River, according to Miami Today.
Miami Today reports that the Chetrit Group would seek a Special Area Plan, "to allow sites greater than 9 abutting acres to be master planned to allow greater integration of public and private improvements and infrastructure “and greater flexibility so as to result in higher or specialized quality building and streetscape design within the Special Area Plan.”
To reach 9 acres, the site would also have to include some of Jose Marti Park and the baseball diamond.
Miami Worldcenter is planning to break ground on the site by the end of 2014 according to exMiami.
The first phase of construction will include the retail anchor stores Macy's and Bloomingdale's and have a 1 million square feet of retail.
The planned site will focus on pedestrian experience with walkways, restaurants and cafes.
The Forbes Company and Taubman Centers, Inc. are developing the mall portion while MDM Group is developing the hotel portion.

Ugo Colombo has again teamed up with Russian Developer Vladimir Doronin and they have plans to develop the site at 30 SE 8th St. where a Chicken Kitchen is currently located.
According to Inhabit Miami, Doronin bought the land for $21.5 million in a bankruptcy auction in July 2013. Renzo Renzi, the developer who lost the land had plans for a condo called Beacon at Brickell.
Colombo and Doronin just announced the Brickell Flatiron condo recently and are expected to release plans for the new site in the near future.

Watson Island
The Miami Herald reports that Miami commissioners have voted for developer Flagstone to begin work on Island Gardens located on Watson Island.
Island Gardens is to include condos, retail, restaurants and a mega yacht marina, but this project has been stalled since 2001 for various reasons.
Last year, Flagstone partnered with Related Group with a bigger project than originally planned, but Related pulled out of the deal two months later.
The site is located on prime waterfront land with the best views of the city. Residents feel that this project will congest the MacArthur Causeway and cause more delays.
Flagstone has until June 2 to break ground or Miami commissioners will consider abandoning the deal altogether.
