Babylon Apartments Brickell
On Tuesday July 5th, Miami's Preservation Board voted 6-0 to designate the Babylon Apartments as historic despite not meeting the 50 year requirement.
The Babylon Apartments opened in 1982 and helped launch Miami based architect firm Arquitectonica to world renowned fame. They have since designed buildings such as the American Airlines Arena, Brickell City Centre, Brickell Heights and SLS Lux Brickell.
The property owner, Francisco “Paco” Martinez-Celeiro believes the the building is beyond repair and should be demolished. He plans on appealing the decision.

SLS Lux Brickell Under Construction
SLS Lux Brickell has reached the 37th floor with workers starting to build up to the 38th floor of the 58 story building.
The Arquitectonica designed building is located at 801 S. Miami Avenue across the street from Brickell City Centre and the under construction Brickell Heights.
Construction is expected to be completed before the end of 2017.

The Starlite Motel in Brickell
Optimum USA Brickell 2 has received a $7 million construction loan from City National Bank, according to The Real Deal.
The Starlite Motel was purchased by Optimum USA Brickell 2 in December 2014 for $24.8 million.
The site located at 128 SW 7th St is zoned for 24 stories and is located two blocks West of Brickell City Centre.
Construction at Brickell Heights continues to progress on the two towers located in the heart of Brickell. The two towers have since topped out and the construction team are installing the rooftop pools and continuing the build out of the units.
Brickell Heights is nearly sold out with only 8 units remaining in the two towers with prices starting in the low $900,000 for the 3 and 4 bedrooms residences.
The two buildings offers fantastic views of Brickell, Downtown Miami, Miami Beach, Coconut Grove and Biscayne Bay.
Brickell Heights is located across the street from Brickell City Centre, which will have shopping and restaurants and is expected to open in the Fall 2016.

The base of Solitair Brickell for the parking garage has been built and now the building is starting to rise where the units will be.
Solitair Brickell is located between the proposed Brickell Market Place and recently sold building at 90 SW 8th Street, which will be converted to new retail and restaurant.

Panorama Tower continues to rise in Brickell as it reaches the 46th floor before topping out at 83 stories.
The FAA recently approved a height increase to Panorama Tower from the initial height of 822 feet to 868 feet.
Almost a year ago, Panorama had just reached the 11th floor of the parking garage.
