Venetian Causeway to Close for Months

The Miami Herald reports that the Venetian Causeway will close for months to repair the old bridge. The bridge has become weakened over the years and will take approximately six to nine months to fix.

According the the Herald, "The Venetian bridge crisis began March 15 when a Miami-Dade Transit bus traveling eastbound on the westernmost part of the drawbridge near Miami got stuck as it drove on the weakened segment. “A portion of the bridge fell and a hole opened up,” Miami-Dade County Engineer Antonio Cotarelo said at the Tuesday night meeting."

Along with construction on the MacArthur Causeway because of the Port of Miami tunnel and the Alton Road Project, Miami Beach residents will look to have a long commute. The good news is that the Port of Miami tunnel is supposed to be completed by next month so that could help alleviate some of the traffic.

Brickell City Centre Construction Photos - East View

Since last week, construction workers have been adding steel frames to the center of Hotel East. What is this is being used for? I'm not sure, but it looks like it is a delicate process because they aren't going at the rate as they were before.

Below are photos of Brickell City Centre from an East view with a glimpse of the underground parking.

The building is expected to have retail on the ground level, which will help increase walking traffic around Brickell and South Miami Ave.

NINE at Mary Brickell Village Construction Progress Photos

After the real estate crash in 2007, new construction in Miami came to a standstill for a few years. It wasn't until 2012 that the market finally picked up again and new condos are rising at a rate faster than before.

One of those condos is NINE at Mary Brickell Village. Initially called SkyPalace, then EnV before officially becoming NINE at Mary Brickell Village -  the condo will sit atop a Publix and the shops of Mary Brickell Village.

Located on 999 SW 1st Ave., NINE will consist of 390 residential units and rise 34 stories overlooking Brickell.

Construction began in December 2012 and is expected to be completed by the Summer of 2014.
