Brickell Tennis Club at Night

Previously, we showed what the Brickell Tennis Club looked like under demolition during the day. Now, here are photos of what  it looked like at night.

The Tennis Club was surrounded by the condos of Brickell and had an incredible view of the Miami Tower and Brickell World Plaza lit up at night.

The Tennis Club was torn down to make way for Swire Properties' Brickell City Centre, which is currently under construction.

Construction is rising fast at Brickell City Centre since our last update. Swire has closed the 8th St. metromover station until Summer of 2015, they have started construction on the retail portion below North Squared Condo and they have added the skywalk above 7th St connecting the towers.

Rise Brickell City Center has since risen to 17 floors and Reach Brickell City Centre has risen to 13 floors.

Hotel East is the tower that has been built the quickest with many of the windows being installed and a few of the glass balconies being added on.

The retail portion of Brickell City Centre is taking shape with most of the steel frames going up and concrete being poured to create the floors.

Below are current photos of the project.

ExMiami is reporting that the FAA is requiring Swire to reduce the height of One Brickell City Centre from 1,040 feet.  A study done by the FAA states that the building will be within flight paths of Miami Airport. Swire has 60 days to respond to the FAA.

One Brickell City Centre is expected to part of the third phase of construction of Brickell City Centre.

At 1,040 feet One Brickell City Centre would be the tallest building South of New York City.

Before Brickell City Centre There Was The Brickell Tennis Club

Brickell Tennis Club Was Located in the Heart of Brickell

In the middle of Brickell's urban sprawl was a tennis club that occupied over a block of land. The Brickell Tennis Club was located at 601 South Miami Ave and had multiple tennis courts with a clubhouse. It was built approximately between 2003-2005.

In March of 2011, Swire Properties acquired the land for $14 million to build the $1.05 billion Brickell City Centre. The condo Reach Brickell City Centre will be built on the land that was previously the Brickell Tennis Club.

In July of 2012, Swire was able to acquire the land to the North of the Brickell Tennis Club that was used as the parking lot for the facilities. This land is part of the second phase of construction for Brickell City Centre and will be the location of the condo North Squared.

Demolition of the Brickell Tennis Club began in May of 2012.
