Plans For Miami's Tallest Building In Brickell

Former Capital at Brickell Site

Preliminary approval has started on the former Capital at Brickell site by China City Construction, according to The Next Miami. They plan on building the tallest building in Miami, which is currently held by the Four Seasons. 

China City Construction Corp. along with American Da Tang Group brought the 2.39 acre site earlier this year for 74.7 million.

The lot at 1430 S. Miami Ave has sat empty for many years in a prime location in Brickell.

Cocowalk In Coconut Grove Sold For $87.5M

The outdoor shopping mall in Coconut Grove called Cocowalk has sold for $87.5 million, according to the Miami Herald

Federal Realty Investment Trust purchased the mall from PMAT Real Estate Investments who bought it for $87 million in 2006.

The mall opened in 1990 across from the Mayfair hotel and was a popular attraction when first opened. In recent years, tenants have left leaving as much as 20% of the space vacant. 

However, Coconut Grove is seeing a resurgence in the area with the addition of Grove at Grand Bay,  Regatta Park, and tenants such as the Clyde Butcher Gallery Coconut Grove, Harry's Pizzeria and Panther Coffee in the Engle Building.

Edgewater Getting New Hotel Called Vib

Developer Richard Meruelo of Rebuild-Miami Edgewater has announced that he will build a Best Western Hotel named Vib, according to The Miami Herald. 

The 7.4 acre land was purchased in January for $64 million and was planned to be the Bayview Market before the recession hit.

The urban boutique hotel is expected to break ground in November of this year with plans to open in December of 2016. 

Plans Submitted For 60 Story Condo In Edgewater

Plans have been submitted to the FAA for a 649 tower at the corner of NE 20 St. and Biscayne Boulevard, according to The Next Miami. 

Russian investors called Verzasca Group purchased the site earlier this year. The condo will include 405 units by a world renowned architect.

Miami-Dade Children's Courthouse Completed

The 14 story Miami-Dade Children's Courthouse located at 155 NW 3rd St. has been recently completed, the Miami Herald reports.

The courthouse cost $110 million to build and has 18 courtrooms inside featuring 375,000 square feet of space.
