Demolition Starts To Make Way For Brickell Walgreens

Demolition is almost complete at lot 296 SW 7th Street to make way for a new Walgreens.

The lot was the location of the Brickell Car Wash Concept, but has sat abandoned since early 2006.

Walgreens paid $10 million for the one acre lot, which also includes the two story apartment complex next door. The lot is only a few blocks away from Brickell City Centre and across the street from where the Chetrit Group want to build four Miami River condos.

The unique design of the new Walgreens was created by Frank Demandt and Robert Brown of Demandt Architecture.

Construction on the Walgreens should begin in the next few months.

Construction Starts at Panorama Tower

Panorama Tower Site

After months of tearing down an old parking garage, construction has started at Panorama Tower.

Located at 1101 Brickell Bay Dr., the building will be 82 stories and will include residential units, hotel, retail and a much needed observation deck on the top floor.

Panorama Tower is being developed by longtime Miami developer Tibor Hollo and his Florida East Coast Realty company.

The project is expected to be completed in mid 2017.

Brickell City Centre Sales Center Lights Up At Night

Brickell City Centre Sales Office Lights Up at Night

A month ago, Swire started putting a white drape over the old Northern Trust building. We knew that they were planning on using the building as a sales office for Brickell City Centre, but did not know what the white drape was for.

It turns out the white drape will be used for interactive sales for selling residential units at Brickell City Centre. The units of Brickell City Centre they are selling are part of Condo West and Condo North.

Last night was the first time the sales center has been lit with the white drape and it looks fantastic among the other buildings of Brickell Avenue.

The building is located at 700 Brickell Ave. and will be demolished as part of the phase two construction of Brickell City Centre and One Brickell City Centre.

No MLS Stadium In Downtown Museum Park

Miami's Museum Park

Miami Boat Slip

The Miami Herald reports that Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado and City Manager Daniel Alfonso have nixed the idea of David Beckham having his MLS stadium in Museum Park and the boat slip next to the American Airlines Arena.

Beckham and his investors originally wanted the stadium at the Port of Miami, so this latest news will force them to look elsewhere for their planned stadium.

Museum park is still set to open on June 14.

Rock of Ages Set Miami

Rock of Ages Miami Set

For six weeks in the Summer of 2011, the Rock of Ages movie filmed in Miami at the intersection of North Miami Ave and 14th St.

The movie starring Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough and Alec Baldwin completely transformed this derelict intersection and made it to look like Los Angeles' busy Sunset Strip circa 1987.

When walking around the set it felt as if you were transported back in time to the 80's. Gas and food prices were cheap and a magazine rack featured many magazines from the 80's.

Many of the buildings that were used for the set have been torn down over the past three years. However, one of the buildings that was used as the Roxy has been completely renovated.

The Rock of Ages movie premiered in July 2012.
