Babylon Apartments
Despite being designated by Miami's Preservation Board as a historic structure in July 2016, Miami's City Commissioners overruled by a 4 -1 vote that the Babylon Apartments can be demolished.
Built in 1982, the Babylon Apartments was Arquitectonica's first designed building with a folded ziggurat façade and only 15 apartments. When is was built, the 5 story building was surrounded by houses that were eventually demolished over the years and replaced with high rises.
The Babylon Apartments is owned by Francisco “Paco” Martinez Celeiro who will reapply for a demolition permit and tear down the building in the coming months.
Solitair Brickell
The 50 story Solitair Brickell is almost completed and ready to open.
Developed by ZOM Living and designed by Stantec, Solitair Brickell was inspired by a medjool palm tree. With the façade of the building lit up at night, the jagged edges of the building stand out along 8th Street.
The parking garage on the site was demolished June 2015 and the building topped off May 2017.

Demolition at 830 Brickell
Demolition has begun on the Latin American Kitchen building at the 830 Brickell site at 830 SE 1st Ave in Brickell.
830 Brickell is owned by OKO Group where they plan on building a 712 foot luxury condo.
The Chicken Kitchen, also on the site, is still open for business.
Maizon at Brickell Site
The 24 story Maizon at Brickell is now going vertical in West Brickell.
With 262 rental units, Maizon at Brickell was approved by Miami's Urban Development Review Board in October 2016 and demolition of the houses on the site began in June 2017.
Maizon at Brickell is being developed by ZOM Living and designed by MSA Architects.
Panorama Tower
When we last looked at Panorama Tower in August 2017, all the cranes were removed from the building.
In December 2016, the 85 story tower reached the 67th floor where we showed the 360 views from that height. In April 2017, the building topped off and again we showed the views from the top of the tallest building South of Manhattan at 868 feet.
Panorama Tower is scheduled to open March of this year with 821 rental units and a Hyatt Centric hotel on the first 17 floors.
Construction on Panorama Tower began June 2014 after the demolition of the parking garage on the site.
