TBT (February 26, 2015) - Four years ago the under construction Grove at Grand Bay was about to top off at 20 stories in Coconut Grove. The two twisting buildings designed by Bjarke Ingels would eventually officially top off in June 2015. The buildings were completed in August 2016. The Grove at Grand Bay is an architectural marvel located in Coconut Grove, Miami. When you drive into Coconut Grove the two twisting towers immediately catch your eye and are gorgeous to look at. At night is when the towers really come to life and the twisting columns are more pronounced and prominent. 

The two twenty story towers were designed by architect Bjarke Ingels and developed by Terra Group. Both the towers are a floor away from being topped out to their maximum height.

Mill Creek Residential closed an Edgewater site located at 411 NE 21st Street in Edgewater where they are planning a 28 story rental called Modera Biscayne Bay.

Modera Biscayne Bay will have 296 rental units, 425 parking spaces and 11,607 square feet of retail. The building was designed by Corwil Architects.

Demolition of the buildings on site are expected soon with construction beginning later this Summer.

Construction is underway at The Estates at Acqualina in Sunny Isles Beach as the first tower is starting to go vertical.

On December 14, 2018, a 17 hour foundation pour occurred on the tower as over 24,000 tons of concrete was poured.

Condos at The Estates at Acqualina start at $4.2 million and go up to $14 million. Amenities include a spa and fitness center, Circus Maximus restaurant, ice skating rink, a Formula One simulator, a golfing simulator, bowling lanes, a movie theater, and a Wall Street Trader’s Club room with computers and a boardroom, a Speakeasy and a boxing ring in the gym.

The second cement pour on the other tower will start later this year.

Brickell Flatiron Top Off Video

After reaching the 64th floor a few weeks ago, Brickell Flatiron had the official top off party on Friday February 1, 2019.

Brickell Flatiron is expected to be completed in July/August of this year.

Construction Begins On Miami Signature Bridge

Construction has now started on the $800 million Miami Signature Bridge, which includes a redesign of I-395.

The Signature Bridge will have six arches with lighted LED’s designed by Archer Western and The de Moya Group that was chosen in May 2017.

Construction is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2023.

TBT (January 15, 2015) - 4 years ago the Miami Herald building was still under the process of being torn down after initially starting demolition April 2014. The building would be completed demolished in March 2015 and the site is now used to host events such as Art Basel.

After months of slowly dismantling the Miami Herald building and beginning the official demolition in April 2014, the building is almost completely torn down.

The Northern piece of the building is all that remains and should be fully down by the end of January.

So far, there are no plans for construction in the foreseeable future. Getting has been quiet on the since gambling failed to become legalized. The Miami Herald reports that Miami Tomás Regaledo has not heard from Genting in months and they have not submitted any plans.

Since buying the 14 acre site for $236 million there have been speculation that Genting plans to sell the site, especially for the demand of land on the waterfront

Turnberry Ocean Club Residences

The 54 story Turnberry Ocean Club Residences in Sunny Isles Beach has passed its halfway mark and reached the 32nd floor of construction.

A year ago, vertical construction was underway on the Carlos Zapata designed building that will eventually reach 650 feet in height.

When we last looked in August 2018, the building was on the 19th floor.
