Originally built in 1939 by architect Roy France, who also designed The Saxony and The Versailles, Faena Bazaar is an updated renovation of the Art Deco building.

As part of the Faena District, which includes Faena Forum, Faena House, Faena Hotel, Faena Versailles and Faena Park, the 4 story Faena Bazaar was designed by Rem Koolhaas of OMA. 

The building is currently being used as the Museum of Ice Cream, which will be there until February 26.

L'Atelier Miami Beach

Since topping off in November 2017, L'Atelier Miami Beach is taking form as exterior work on the tower and former Golden Sands Hotel continues. 

Located at 6901 Collins Avenue, L'Atelier is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Arquitectonica Designed Babylon Apartments To Be Demolished

Babylon Apartments

Despite being designated by Miami's Preservation Board as a historic structure in July 2016, Miami's City Commissioners overruled by a 4 -1 vote that the Babylon Apartments can be demolished. 

Built in 1982, the Babylon Apartments was Arquitectonica's first designed building with a folded ziggurat façade and only 15 apartments. When is was built, the 5 story building was surrounded by houses that were eventually demolished over the years and replaced with high rises. 

The Babylon Apartments is owned by Francisco “Paco” Martinez Celeiro who will reapply for a demolition permit and tear down the building in the coming months.

The 12 story Arte by Antonio Citterio in Surfside is now starting to go vertical after beginning foundation work in January 2017. 

With only 12 units, Arte by Antonio Citterio is being developed by ASRR Capital and Süzer Group. ASRR Capital closed on a large site in Edgewater where they plan to building two towers in June 2017.

Construction is expected to be completed bu the end of 2018.

Residence Inn Sunny Isles Is Now Open

Residence Inn Sunny Isles

The Residence Inn Sunny Isles opened for business November 2017. 

At a cost of $65 million, the 19 story hotel with 194 studio suites was developed by Robert Finvarb Companies, who is also developing a 24 story mixed used hotel in Brickell and designed by architect Kobi Karp.

The Residence Inn is located near the under construction Muse Residences and Jade Signature.

The Under Construction Square Station Is Taking Shape Quickly

Square Station in Arts & Entertainment District

Going up very quickly is the under construction Square Station in the Arts and Entertainment district of Miami.

The jagged lines of the façade of the two 34 towers of more apparent without the cranes.

With 710 rental units, construction began October 2016 and topped off in September 2017. 

Square Station is being developed by Melo Group who also have the soon to open Aria on the Bay and the under construction Art Plaza across the street.

Solitair Brickell Set To Open Soon

Solitair Brickell

The 50 story Solitair Brickell is almost completed and ready to open. 

Developed by ZOM Living and designed by Stantec, Solitair Brickell was inspired by a medjool palm tree. With the façade of the building lit up at night, the jagged edges of the building stand out along 8th Street.

The parking garage on the site was demolished June 2015 and the building topped off May 2017.
